Welcome to the New SiliconPen

Welcome to the New SiliconPen

“Migration To a New Home.”

A Fresh Home for SiliconPen ✨

If you’ve been reading my posts on Hashnode, welcome back — and if you’re new here, hi, I’m Rishi 👋

SiliconPen just moved into its own home at siliconpen.com, and this is the first “official” post from the new setup.

I wanted to quickly share what changed, why I moved, and what might still look a bit work-in-progress while I keep tuning things.

Why move away from Hashnode?

Hashnode was an amazing place to start.
It gave me:

  • A clean editor to write in
  • Built-in SEO and RSS
  • A small but real audience to write for

But after a while, I started feeling the itch to:

  • Control everything — layout, series, structure, weird experiments
  • Make custom series pages (like Rant Electronics, Oscillations, Pathway to Arduino, Real Circuits, etc.)
  • Build tools around my writing (like my own Markdown → HTML flow, TOC, and all the nerdy stuff you don’t usually see)

So… I moved. Now every pixel you see here is wired by hand. If something is broken, it is 100% my fault 😆

What’s new on the site?

A few things you’ll notice across the new SiliconPen:

  • Custom article layout
Clean typography, focused reading area, and a “On this page” sidebar for longer posts.

  • Series pages
Articles are grouped into series like:

    • Rant Electronics – chaotic, emotional electronics rants
    • Oscillations – weekly-ish tech + geopolitics analysis
    • Pathway to Arduino – structured Arduino learning path
    • Real Circuits – circuits that actually do something
  • Reference vault (Citadel)
There’s now a dedicated References page where I list the sources that power articles, instead of hiding them in random links.

  • Better control over performance & SEO
Lightweight, static, and handcrafted. No heavy frameworks doing surprise things in the background.

Things still in progress 🛠️

The site is new and I’m still tuning it. So if you spot something odd, that’s why. A few things that might be rough for a bit:

  • Some older links from Google / Hashnode may redirect to the new paths
  • A few visual details will keep changing (spacing, colors, tiny UI tweaks)
  • Comments and some interactive parts may evolve as I test what works best

If you hit a broken link, feel free to jump back to the Articles or Series page and you’ll probably find what you were looking for.

I’m also still experimenting with where / how to place things like newsletters, references, and (eventually) ads in a way that doesn’t ruin the reading experience.

A small thank you to Hashnode

Hashnode was where SiliconPen took its first steps.
I wrote my early articles there, learned how to structure posts, and met the first people who actually read my stuff.

So even though the content now lives here, a big thank you to everyone who ever read, liked, or commented on a Hashnode article. You’re part of why this standalone version exists.

What you can expect next

Now that the “plumbing” is mostly done, I’ll be focusing on:

  • More Rant Electronics episodes
  • Continuing the Oscillations series
  • Deep dives on real circuits, not just equations
  • The full Pathway to Arduino roadmap

If you find bugs, broken links, layout glitches, or have ideas, you can always ping me or just mentally tag it as “site under construction, but vibes are good”.

Thanks for sticking around through the migration.
This is just the beginning of SiliconPen 2.0 🖊️⚡
